Flipp Saint Paul Concert reviews
Truly amazing
I had never heard of Colony House, Ben Rector, and Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors before. Colony House kicked things off with a few songs - one was great, one I didn't like at all, and 2 that were ok. Having never heard them, I didn't know what to expect. Nor what to expect of Drew Holcomb, who was next. Wow. Such a crystal clear voice. I liked all their songs. Not even my style of music but was fantastic - I even bought the CD when I got my daughter a Tour de Compadres t-shirt. Then Ben Rector took the stage. A great performer and very engaging with the audience. Both Ben and Drew post things on Instagram from each of their concerts (and Ben does other stuff, too). Very fun.
NTB came on, and the concert went to a whole new level. They rocked the whole time. Sound was great. Music vs. audio was well balanced. Show was spectacular. I feel like an idiot for not having come see them when they were here last fall. And I understand they will be back this fall and will not be missing it. I was nicely surprised how much I liked Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors.
I've been to a bunch of concerts over the years and seen small acts to large mega-bands. I would rate this one in my top 5. Truly, even among the mega bands that have been performing for decades. This band has an energy that not only carries through to the audience but envelopes you and makes you feel you are truly a part of it. They are an excellent live-performance band. And, in fact, I honestly think they sound better live than on CD/Radio. The energy and conviction with which they sing is just that more intense live - and it's awesome. (They have a new live album I'll have to investigate.)
If you even remotely like NTB then DO NOT miss this concert. You can bring the kids. This is a great concert for everyone.
